Largemouth, but small.

What a great day out at Black Shoals

The plastics were money all day! The cotton candy worm was a hit. I must have used 5 or six, but that was all that was left in the bag. It was windy on the eastern side of the lake with the wind blowing right down the gut at 10 to 15 mph. It was tough keeping the boat off the shoreline.

I hit my first one as soon as I got across the lake from the dock/boat ramp. He slurped it up gently and I didn't know he had it for a couple seconds. I used a bright green lizard, 4in., on a Texas rig. Funny how a Texas always catches fish for me.

After I went over to the west side which was very calm, I was sight fishing. I could sneak up to the bank and actually see the fish. Here's a hint: if you can see them clearly, they can see you...don't bother trying to catch them. But, if you go out as far as you can and still cast to within a couple inches of the bank, dog will hunt! The biggest one I caught today was hovering under the overhang of a tree about 25ft away from me. The key is to cast it long enough and easy enough, with minimal splash, to make the lure look natural. Like it fell out of a tree, or fell in the lake.

There weren't but half a dozen boats out, and I only saw 3 of them. There were three trailers in the parking lot when I left and one more was headed to the ramp to take out.

By far, the best day I've had out there all year. I think I landed 6 total fish.

Another lunker

I bet he's 3lbs, easy

Look @ the size of this one!!!

Lunker, Baby!
