Gene Lyons, reports false information.

I just read an article by a dude named Gene Lyons about gun control. I stopped after reading the following line written by Mr. Lyons:

"Indeed, the killer had broken no laws until he shot Rep. Gabrielle Giffords at point-blank range."

Folks, this is the problem with many of the writers in the media. They are often times, completely inaccurate. Loughner broke no laws until he shot Rep. Giffords? What about using marijuana? What about lying/providing false information on the form 4473 that Loughner filled out to obtain the pistol he used?

Here is a short description of Mr. Lyons:
Arkansas Democrat-Gazette columnist Gene Lyons is a National Magazine Award winner and co-author of "The Hunting of the President" (St. Martin's Press, 2000). You can e-mail Lyons at eugenelyons2@yahoo.com.

Napoleon Hill Thought for the Day...

Thought for the Day
December 6, 2010

FAILURE IS A BLESSING WHEN IT PUSHES US OUT OF A CUSHIONED SEAT OF SELF-SATISFACTION AND FORCES US TO DO SOMETHING USEFUL.

If you carefully study your own life and those of achievers whom you admire, it is an absolute certainty you will discover that your greatest opportunities often occurred during times of adversity. It is only when faced with the possibility of failure that we are willing to deal with radical change and take the risks that lead to great success. When you experience temporary failure and you know that it is temporary, you can capitalize on the opportunities adversity always brings.

We should ban fire because it burns people...

False is the idea of utility that sacrifices a thousand real advantages for the imaginary or trifling inconvenience; that would take fire from men because it burns, and water because one may drown in it; that has no remedy for evils except destruction. The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.   -- Cesare Beccaria, as quoted by Thomas Jefferson's Commonplace book

I received this in an email from GeorgiaCarry.org (GCO).  How true it is.  You can see how skewed we have become:

 - Banning salt in NY

- Banning Happy Meals because kids get fat

- Ban caffeine in malt liquor energy drinks because stupid college kids binge on it and get sick.

-  And, here are 9 things that you are not allowed to buy (raw milk, Really?? I grew up in Wisconsin...)

Since when is the Government's responsibility to mitigate individual risk?  Life is tough, get over it.  You make a stupid decision, you suffer the consequences and hopefully learn from your mistake(s).  Ever heard of "gene pool cleansing"? Here are some examples at the Darwin Awards.  Famous last words, "Hey! Watch this!".

I enjoy watching my daughter play.  She's very adventerous.  She likes to ride her bicycle, swing on a rope from a tree, jump on her trampoline and boss around the neighborhood kids.  I took here riding on the trails out at Harbin's Park last week and we rode about 6 miles.  On our last trail, MB1, she got out of control and dumped it.  Nothing bad, but it shook her up.  Life's rough, get over it.  While I was concerned for her well-being, I didn't exaggerate my concern, and rather helped her up and consoled her and showed her where she went wrong.  She was fine and kept going.  I was proud of her.  So much so, that she'll be getting a new bike for Christmas to further enhance her riding experience.  I'm positive we'll experience more spills, but you know what they say, "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger".

So, raise your hand if you're tired of Big Brother regulating you through the roof in an effort to protect you from your own stupidity.

Napoleon Hill Thought for the Day...

November 4, 2010

THERE IS HARMONY THROUGHOUT THE UNIVERSE IN EVERYTHING EXCEPT HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS.

Our universe is characterized by order and harmony, yet we human beings must constantly struggle to achieve the same characteristics in our relationships. In fact, human beings seem to find it unnatural to cooperate with others. Successful individuals are those who have learned to swim against the current, to do the things that others refuse to do. They have learned how to work together for the benefit of the entire group. Achieving harmony in any relationship-business, personal, or professional-requires work. Take comfort in the fact that you’ll accomplish far more working with others than working against them.

Anyone else get this email, or am I the sole recipient?

I received this email this morning.  Sgt. Turner, if you could please just send the  money to my home address via FedEx, I'll make sure its disposed of properly....

Thanks!

Sgt. Turner's email:

FROM: Sgt. David Turner
Important Message,

Good day,

My name is David Turner, I am an American soldier, I served in the military of the 1st Armored Division in Iraq, as you know we have ended combat operations in Iraq but we are still being attacked by insurgents everyday and car bombs. We managed to move funds belonging to Saddam Hussein's family in 2003. The total amount is US$25 Million dollars in cash, mostly 100 dollar bills, this money has been kept somewhere outside Baghdad for sometime but with the end of combat operations and reduction of troops by president Obama, we are afraid that the money will be discovered hence we want to move this money to you for safe keeping pending the completion of our assignment here. You can go to this web link to read about events that took place there:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/ middle_east/2988455.stm

we are ready to compensate you with good percentage of the funds, No strings attached, just for you to help us move it out of Iraq. Iraq is still a war zone, so we plan on using diplomatic means in shipping the money out as military cargo using diplomatic immunity. If you are interested I will send you the full details, my job is to find a good partner that we can trust and that will assist us. Can I trust you? When you receive this letter, kindly send me an email signifying your interest including your most confidential telephone numbers for quick communication also your contact details. This is risk free.

In GOD we trust.
With regards,
Sgt. David Turner
